Horrified by Dedham's school logo

I have long thought it was insensitive at best, ignorant at worst, to have Native American logos for sports teams ("Will some teams be name-droppers?" Globe South, Feb. 8). To the best of my knowledge, Braintree High is not overrun with members of the Wampanoag Nation. At least the logo is the profile of a dignified chief. I was horrified at the logo for Dedham High. In any event, I think they should all go. Surely such a fine school system as Braintree's can come up with something both inspirational and inoffensive. Pick an appropriate animal. They are good natured and don't take offense as long as they are treated well. An entire nation of proud people should not be reduced to a cartoon.
