Dear Mr. Sanfacon,

Thank you for your letter and your questions. I will bring forward to the Special Services Committee of the School Board your concerns and the State Board of Education Resolution.

Several years ago the High School, at the Board's request, had a series of meetings and a public forum. At the meeting, the support for retaining the logo was unanimous, including several members of Native American heritage. I believe some staff members and community members think the "Red Raider" logo honors Native Americans. It is important to have a dialogue about the logo and for everyone to understand what the "Red Raider" may portray.

The Special Services Committee may make a recommendation to the Board on this issue, but will probably want to seek more information. If you would like to know when the Committee will be meeting, let me know and I will send you further information.

Thank you,

Michael Hopkins
