More on Indian logo discussion

To the editor:

I live in Sacramento, Calif., and am a former member of Dover High School. Here in California some schools have changed their logo and sports name.

A lot of the tribes see no harm in depicting the American Indian as their mascot and logo as long as they do it in good taste. Maybe Spaulding should change the name Red Raider and not paint the Indian with a red face. I have good memories of playing football against Spaulding and would hate to see the image go away.

Most of us like to depict the American Indian in a positive manner because they are the first Americans and a big part of our history.

I hope this can be resolved because many will feel sad if the logo and mascot are changed to please a few.

I am part Indian and enjoy seeing the Indian tribes depicted in a positive manner.
